Version 1
Your local forecast office
Your results now show the National Weather Service office that forecasts for your ZIP code, with direct links to its forecast and radar.
- NewAfter you enter your ZIP code, StormPrep names the National Weather Service office that covers you and links to its homepage.
- NewOne-tap links to your 7-day forecast, your nearest radar, the forecasters' discussion and the hazardous weather outlook.
- NewIf a neighboring office is also issuing alerts for your area, it's listed too.
Checklists tailored to your exact alert
Every National Weather Service alert now leads to a checklist and first steps built for that specific threat.
- NewEight new checklists: ice storm, extreme cold, freeze and frost, wildfire and fire weather, high wind, air quality and smoke, tsunami, and dense fog and dust.
- ImprovedThe winter storm checklist is now focused on snow and blizzards, so a frost advisory no longer tells you to stock up for a week.
- NewAlert-specific first steps for about 50 alert types, from Hurricane Warnings to Hard Freeze Warnings and Red Flag Warnings.
- ImprovedWarnings and advisories now open your checklist with the steps to take right away; watches still start with getting ready.
- ImprovedAlerts that used to fall back to the basic kit, like Red Flag Warnings, Air Quality Alerts and Dense Fog Advisories, now get their own checklist.
- ImprovedThe no-alert page now suggests wildfire, tsunami, ice, extreme cold and freeze checklists for the states where they matter.
